An Overview of How Clocks Are Made

Clocks have been around for several decades already. They are items that are necessary to make the life of people in the world more systematic or organized. In the past, people had to live their lives with only morning, noon, and night only. Meaning, they do not have specific times of the day. As clocks were produced, people already had several hours to spend in a day, noon, and night time. Thus, they were able to accomplish more tasks, as compared in the past.

People nowadays can already purchase two general types of clocks known as an analog clock and a digital clock. Analog clocks are the traditional types. They are the ones that have a minute hand and an hour hand. They tick every minute with the use of different mechanical technologies like spring, pendulum, and quartz. As time went by, manufacturers saw the need to develop digital clocks in order to tell time easier, which may also include the exact second. Digital timekeeping devices are the ones that display actual numbers. Thus, they are easier to read. Some of them also include dates and days. Thus, people sometimes no longer have to buy a calendar.

Clocks may seem like simple devices. However, people should understand that they are not as simple as they seem. Some also question why there are clocks that are expensive and some are not. That is due to the fact that they are made in different ways and materials. Thus, the more laborious it was made and the more expensive and sturdy the material is, the more expensive the clock is. In order to understand such better, people should have an overview on how to make an analog clock and a digital clock from scratch.

People or companies that make clocks usually begin by planning the size and shape of the timekeeping device that they are producing. They can either be small, medium, or big, as well as round, square, triangle, rectangle, geometric, etc. Likewise, they will also decide what type of material they are going to use. Such can either be plastic, metal, steel, wood, and the likes. At times, some companies only use one type of material for them to have their own signature. Additionally, they also decide whether the clock will be placed on the wall, floor, or table.

After the decision has been made, the frame of the clock will then be molded. For wooden clocks, they are usually carved by either a machine or by hand. If they decided to make small, medium, or large outdoor clocks waterproof materials will also be used. After molding and creating the frame, they now proceed to creating the display of the clock and attaching the mechanical system inside.

They will then cover it at the back and place a glass in front. After which, the clocks made will pass through thorough quality control check. Such will ensure that each timekeeping device meets the codes and standards set by the company and the safety experts. After which, they are packaged and distributed to different stores and malls.
